Environmental Engineering studies at EME: certified and recognized by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur

EME offers a 5-year engineering program that provides students with the skills to succeed in engineering and provides opportunities for specialization in different fields of Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development. Most of the courses are taught in French.

The first two preparatory years are spent acquiring the fundamental knowledge in math, physics, chemistry and biology necessary for engineering. Many students enter the EME Environmental Engineering program after two years of either preparatory or scientific studies.

The three-year engineering curriculum is focused on developing your knowledge and skills in various environmental domains and preparing you for a career as an environmental engineer. EME researchers share their expertise through small class sizes, field studies and hands-on experience.

In the third year of our 5-year curriculum, you will study advanced fundamentals, and take environmental courses including life sciences and introductory courses in waste and water treatment.

The graduate level (fourth and fifth years) of our environmental engineering program provides a wide range of comprehensive educational and research opportunities allowing you to individualize your study options and choice of projects and internships.

You will be able to specialize and deepen your know-how and skills in environmental engineering domains such as waste and water treatment, sustainable development, eco-friendly construction, and clean technology.

The fifth year offers specialization tracks including one taught in English.

You are required to do an internship each year to gain professional experience.
In all, you will spend a minimum of 33 weeks doing internships where you will acquire and enhance your professional skills and knowledge.

Through these experiences, you will develop your team spirit and sense of responsibility, see how successful projects are organized, and gain confidence in yourself.

The wide variety of insights and experiences you get from your studies, projects and internships will shape your future and help open doors for a rewarding career in the rapidly expanding domain of Environmental engineering.

EME graduates can find work in the following domains:

Water management and treatment
Waste management and treatment
Air and soil pollution control
Clean technology
Eco-design
Environmental Management
Environmental Health & Safety
